Learning the manual settings on my SLR camera – tick!
Ticking something off one’s “bucket list” doesn’t happen all too often (unless you have a VERY long list) so when I was able to do just that recently I was really excited! Since purchasing my SLR digital camera 5 and a half years ago I have been meaning to learn how to use all the manual settings… I think I’m not alone in this as so many people I know who own beautiful SLR camera’s keep them set to AUTO!! I did, for way too long, the main reason (excuse) being that I bought the camera just before the birth … Read More »

O magazine turns 10 in style!
O, The Oprah Magazine reached a milestone recently – their 10th birthday! Ten years of publishing one of South Africa’s best loved magazines deserves to be celebrated and yesterday I was able to join the editorial team and some of their most avid fans at an amazing birthday party luncheon at The Table Bay Hotel in the V&A Waterfront! I spent the afternoon in a rather glamorous setting than the usual rounds of school pick-up/ swimming lessons/ playdate etc and what a wonderful change it was! The afternoon started off with a few pampering opportunities in the lobby for the … Read More »
Old Mac Daddy had a farm….
This past week was my 10th wedding anniversary, to celebrate I decided to treat myself and my husband to a night away at Old Mac Daddy in Elgin – our first sans kids in a while (so a very big treat!). We had visited The Pink Flamingo rooftop cinema located at the top of The Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street a while back and seen all the funky Airstream trailer “rooms” on the roof (see pics here) and had thought it was a fun idea… When I heard that you could experience the same thing but out in the … Read More »
Cape Town Science Centre
Since the arrival of my second child 2 years ago I have had to be more mindful of finding ways to spend one-on-one time with my eldest. As he is at school in the mornings I get plenty of alone time with his sister (as I did with him when he was still at home) but once he is home it is always three of us. A few weeks back I found myself missing time with my first born. When he was younger my husband was studying part time for a few years which meant it was often just him … Read More »

Glossybox April 2012
It’s that time of the month again: Glossybox time! I received my little box via courier with glee this month. As usual it was filled with lovely little surprises to spoil myself… Here is my vlog on the contents of my box… PLUS an extended section that showcases how to use one of the products (in which I try very hard NOT to embarrass myself, but you’ll have to watch it to find out how!) This month you can expect to find the following products in your Glossybox: 1. Clarins Extra-Firming Tightening Lift Botanical Serum – I’ve been meaning to … Read More »
Timeless Travels – Delft, Holland
These images were all taken on a weekend trip we took from the UK to Delft, Holland – the birthplace of the painter, Johannes Vermeer and the setting for his famous painting and the subsequent book and film – Girl with the Pearl Earring. images: Kathryn Rossiter
Cake decorating with Good Housekeeping
Last week I was invited to a workshop on Cake Decorating with Good Housekeeping magazine held at Chez Gourmet in Claremont. As you are most likely aware I am no kitchen queen but I do enjoy a bit of baking as long as there is no stress or deadline….and I can make as much mess as is necessary ;) The aim of this event was to teach a group of girls like myself a few more tips about cake decorating and I was thrilled to be able to try out some new techniques and discover how easy some things are. … Read More »
Timeless Travels – Knysna Elephant Park
Knysna Elephant Park is located on the Garden Route of South Africa between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. We stopped there on a holiday a few years back and it was such an amazing experience to touch and feed the elephants – how cute is that brave, little hand putting food into the elephant’s trunk?? I would highly recommend it! But do take care as there have been incidents when the elephants have turned on their handlers although these are very rare! images: Kathryn Rossiter
