Last weekend my husband and I were treated by friends to a night at exclusive boutique guest house – Manna Bay – situated in Oranjezicht just below Table Mountain in the City Bowl. This was our first night away sans kids since our youngest was born 18 months ago so you can imagine our excitement at a whole 24 hours with no responsibilities to anyone but ourselves! And in such amazing surroundings too…
We were very spoilt to be treated not only to a night in luxurious surroundings, but a wonderful high tea on the Saturday afternoon (which non-hotel guests can enjoy too, click the link for more info)
My favourite breakfast was on the menu too – Eggs Benedict! And that’s not even counting our pre-dinner drinks at Planet Bar in the Mount Nelson Hotel and delicious burgers at Royale in Long Street. It was truly a decadent 24 hours!! If only we had 24 hours to recover… but alas we had to pick up the kids at 10. Anyway it was a lovely treat and we are very grateful to obliging grandparents and generous friends!
I hope to repeat the experience again – once every few months in the same venue or different ones. We didn’t even have to leave our home town to experience a complete break and I can highly recommend it to all parents of young kids – spending time one on one with the one you first fell in love (that resulted in your new loves – the kids), can only be good for your marriage, even if it’s only a few hours
Here are some pics of the gorgeous, eclectic interiors of Manna Bay.
