Last Thursday I spent a lovely afternoon at the launch of LUSH – Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. This is a UK store that has recently opened it’s doors in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. What a treat to spend a child-free afternoon in this amazing space learning all about their brand. I thought I would share some of pics of the day…
At the launch there were passionate LUSH staff located at each ‘station’ ready to introduce each of us to the awesome products on offer! I loved the fragrance experience where I selected three fragrances I couldn’t live without and had a emotional connection to and then was give three options to choose from to determine my signature LUSH fragrance – LUST!! The massage bars were also a real treat and definitely something worth keeping on hand to soothe tired bods.
LUSH makes their own products from vegan ingredients*. Katie demonstrated to us how they make their fresh face masks that last 28 days. Made from all things good enough to eat!
Another fun option was to check your “Emotional Brilliance” at the colour wheel. Here one of the founders of LUSH, Rowena, gave you some insight into your strength or weakness, your subconscious and your aspiration all based on the three colours that appealed to you on the day! After my spin of the wheel I chose three colours which happened to be cerise, green and light pink. These stood for Passionate, Healthy and Glamorous! Pop in to the shop to take the test or you can do it everyday if you like via the online option here! Here is a small pic from my Instagram feed!
You can find LUSH at the V&A Waterfront in the old Build-a-Bear location or visit the LUSH South Africa Facebook page to find out when a store is opening near you!!
* I was initially led to believe that all the products were made with natural ingredients and without any bad additives, unfortunately after reading up more on the list of ingredients I found that some of the products do in fact contain things that are not so good for your bodies such as Sodium Laurel Sulfate and Parabens…. a pity as the rest of their ethos is really lovely and the brand very enticing! There are some options that don’t contain these baddies so I will be looking out for those options when next I pop in and hope they might change the makeup of their products to eventually eliminate the ingredients I am trying to avoid.
