If you were to browse my Home Lovin’ Pinterest board you would very quickly notice that my favourite interior style is French country style. I adore the colours – greys, whites, blues, the painted furniture and plenty of natural wood. I dream of a gorgeous farm house filled with lived in linens and loved in furniture. For now this is just a dream but to satisfy my Francophile tendencies I will keep popping into Froggatt and Frost – a haven for those of you with magpie tendencies.
The shop is located on the Main Road in Diep River and is a perfect spot to do a bit of browsing – there are gorgeous garden goodies and lovely linen, pretty pots, pewter and kitchenalia. They are also well-known for their fabulous painted and restored wooden furniture such as beds, bookshelves, tables, dressers and amoires. I popped in a while back and snapped a few pics – but these definitely can’t do the space justice as there is just so much to see!
Froggatt and Frost have also recently started stocking a new line of decorative Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan. This versatile paint product can be applied straight on to furniture without the need to prime, sand, or even remove old wax, paint or varnish – the paint will even adhere to wood, plastic, stone, brick, concrete and metal. The unique formulation of Chalk Paint™ means that it can be used on walls and floors as well as furniture. I’m super keen to try this out on a little kist I have in my lounge that desperately needs a revamp from it’s orange pine! I’m keen to personalise it by mixing a colour – possibly a soft grey blue. The paint can also be diluted to make a wash that will show the wood grain. By adding Annie Sloan Soft Wax you can change the depth of colour as well as add a protective finish. Chalk Paint is water based and eco-friendly and contains virtually no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and is odour free. It’s safe for use in nurseries and on children’s toys. Chalk Paint™ costs R250 per litre tin and the Soft Wax – Clear & Dark costs R140 per 500ml.
