Chart Farm has a very special place in my heart. This beautiful rose farm with the most amazing panoramic views of the Constantiaberg Valley and vineyards was one of my adored Gran’s favourite places. She was an amazing lady whose interests and passions were widespread but this place, just up the road from her home, was where she was surrounded by so many of her favourite things – the mountains – where she loved to hike, the roses and garden – which were 2 of her great loves and the vineyards – whose wine she loved to drink!

In fact when she passed away almost 7 years ago this is the place where she had requested her ashes to be spinkled! Now every year on the anniversary of her death or birthday my mom, sister, great aunt and myself enjoy a morning remembering and reminiscing about this special lady at the coffee shop located on Chart Farm and then we head up into the rose garden to pick a few roses and sit on the bench dedicated to her to enjoy the peaceful view for a few minutes.

I love having a beautiful place like this to remember my wonderful Gran. I miss you Gran – every day!

Kathryn, I enjoyed your lovely post about Chart Farm. I love this place too (also live close to it). You are fortunate to have a place you can go to remember your Gran this way.
