Spa Review: Cayenne Spa at The Pepper Club Hotel

Experience makes for much better presents that things, don’t you think??

I’ve been trying to pare down my own life and in doing so realised that time spent with people doing amazing things is far better than adding more things to my space…

And so I recently decided that I’m going to start being an advocate for this by giving my family and friends more experiences instead of stuff!

Starting with my sister…

It was her birthday at the end of April and to celebrate I gave her a few knick knacks but for the big treat I spoilt her with a spa day with me at the Cayenne Spa located at The Pepperclub Hotel in the centre of Cape Town.

Cayenne Spa’s indulgent Chocolate Sensation treatment package grabbed my attention as a chocoholic and I figured an indulgently decadent pamper session away from her two small kids (and classroom of other kids during the week) was the perfect way to treat her on her bday!

Our spa treatment took place in the couples treatment room on the 8th floor of the 5-star Pepperclub Hotel. It began with a chocolate body polishing treatment where we were scrubbed down with a sugar scrub that smelt like dark chocolate. Delicious!

After a quick shower in the room, this was followed by a chocolate fondue body wrap where our whole bodies were covered in a slippery chocolate spread (not Nutella!) and then wrapped up in cling film and towels which initially felt quite odd but after lying in a dark room swaddled in warm towels and listening to peaceful music I almost dozed off… in fact I think I did. The time flew by!

Finally it was time for my ultimate spa treat… a full body massage! And this was a chocoholic treat. Let’s just say I definitely left smelling good enough to eat!

After resurfacing after our 2-hour indulgence we headed back up to the roof-top pool area to enjoy a little bit of chill out time before heading back to our mom duties. As it was her birthday we were spoilt with chocolate dipped strawberries and a smoothie while we chatted and enjoyed the incredible views of Table Mountain.

The Chocolate Sensation treatment costs R 950 per person or R 1 900.00 per couple and runs until 31 May 2017.

Cayenne Spa regularly hosts tailored spa packages and facilities include a sauna which is available for guests to use before or after their treatments. Other treatments offered include full body wellness wraps, body exfoliations, massages and facials, as well as manicure, pedicures and waxing treatments.

She writes about travel, health, beauty, fashion, decor and family... but not food (unless it's food she's eaten made by someone else) as she is a hopeless cook. She only wakes up early for 2 things... a red-eye flight to somewhere exotic and early morning game drives. She has just finished an extensive home renovation and would prefer to never see another box again. She's never met a chocolate or glass of bubbles that she didn't like!

    1. The treatment was for 2 people for 2 hours and comprised 3 different treatments which are usually about R500 – R700 each so it’s good value although you might like to think of it as something to enjoy on a special occasion.

  1. Sounds fabulous. I am a spa addict and regularly see Chocolate themed treatments on Spa Menus – this has given me an idea to try one next time I am Spa Hunting… and of course its a reason to visit Cape Town!
