Beauty Buzz – NEW in November 2016

A few weeks back I started getting more serious about this series and so today I’m getting my act together and publishing my Beauty Buzz for November IN November. What a novel idea!!

Anyway without much further ado here is the beauty news I think you can use for the month…

There are so many brilliant new products launching in the lead up to the summer holidays but I can choose only 5 (otherwise I’ll be here forever and you will run away rather than reading this!)

Here they are:

1. Moroccanoil Texture Collection

moroccanoil-textureSexy beachy hair with plenty of texture is what summer is all about… Thanks to Morrocanoil you can now fake it ’til you make it with their brilliant new Texture collection which includes 3 hero products. There is the Beach Wave Mousse that you apply to wet hair for the prettiest tousled waves without the drying effects of sea-salt. The unique salt-free formula is applied in a mousse form that allows for greater application and styling control. It also contains UV absorbers to protect hair from sun damage and maintain colour vibrancy. Then there is the Dry Texture Spray that is great for creating an effortlessly undone look. As the name indicates this one is applied to dry hair! This product can be used as a finishing spray for those who want textured volume and also as a prep spray to provide foundational grip needed for no-slip braids and updos. The finish is dry and gritty. Lastly the Texture Clay is a unisex clay formula that helps to define both long and short hair, creating a matte finish and strong hold. It’s great for those looking for piecey, roughed-up ends with a non-sticky finish.

2. NIVEA Protect and Refresh Refreshing Sun Lotion SPF 50

protect-and-refresh One thing we all should not be without this summer is sunscreen. And the higher the SPF the better! NIVEA are known around the world as one of the best innovators in sun care and this summer they are launching the new NIVEA Sun Protect & Refresh Refreshing Sun Lotion in an SPF50. More time outdoors during the summer months means it’s essential to use a higher SPF to guarantee longer-lasting coverage for your skin. This formula is light and non-greasy and also has a cooling, refreshing sensation when applied to the skin. It’s a deeply hydrating lotion that is quickly absorbed and won’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy. The sun lotion is water resistant and offers UVA and UVB protection (against the sun rays that cause ageing and burning!) Another real bonus is that this sun cream offers 100% protection immediately – so you’re covered from the moment you apply the product. R164.99 for 200ml from leading retail outlets and pharmacies. It’s also available in a SPF30 option

3. Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks

lancome-labsolu-rouge When three of these little bullet like lipsticks landed on my desk I was blown away by the exquisite black and gold packaging and the novel way to open them….. with a click of the gold rose the bottom half of the product emerges to reveal a beautiful bold colour… These Lancôme L’Abolue Rouge lipsticks are absolutely divine and available in 25 shades of pink and red – from the most nude to the most extroverted. Created by make-up artist Lisa Eldridge the palette of shades is bold, striking and attractive. As I mentioned the packaging is pretty special too… an ultra-desirable tube, a tribute to the jewel cases created by Armand Petitjean, reveals the sophisticated, elegant jewel within – a beautiful lip colour!

“I wanted to create a collection of extremely pure shades that irresistibly attract the eye and the imagination. I wanted to create something very appealing and exciting. I also made sure that each colour family was well represented, with perfect nudes, intense reds, deep raspberries, punchy oranges and simple yet vibrant pinks” – Lisa Eldridge

As texture completes colour, and influences its perception, each of the shades is available in either cream or matte so that each woman can select her favourite finish. For example, a beautiful deep red makes an intense statement in a lovely matte finish and shows off more sophistication in an elegant cream. Available from November 2016 at Lancôme beauty counters for R399 each.

4. Biomedical Emporium Serums

These products may not be launching this very month but they are new to me… and most likely to you too!

Biomedical Emporium is a South African company that produces skin care products formulated by Dr Judey, a Biomedical Scientist, using pharmaceutical grade raw materials in their formulations. All their products are cosmeceuticals, which means that biomedical benefits will be obtained when applied to the skin and the products work on a cellular and molecular level to be as potently effective as possible.

Serums are formulated to penetrate deep into the skin to deliver key ingredients and they generally have much smaller molecules than moisturisers making them more readily absorbed. Biomedical Emporium’s range of serums are light, fast-absorbing and contain high concentrations active ingredients. All their products undergo strict accredited quality control testing for product safety, quality and efficacy and none of their products are tested on animals.

I will be trying the Skin Repair Serum over the next few months as it’s ideal for treating skins with impaired barrier function such as my Rosacea-prone red face! It’s suitable for dry, sensitive and stressed skin as it contains a Skin Calming agent and is anti-inflammatory. I’ll keep you posted!

5. Eucerin Elasticity + Filler

elasticity + fillerEucerin® Elasticity + Filler is a NEW anti-aging range of skincare products inspired by skin science and scientifically proven to strengthen skin structure by improving elasticity and plumping up deep wrinkles. If you’re looking for firmer looking skin – without injections – this could be the range for you!

When our skin ages, it undergoes structural changes – it loses its elasticity and firm structure and becomes thin and dull as many of the substances that keep our skin plump and firm start to decline. The skin needs specialised anti-age care to fight the loss of elasticity, sagging, wrinkles and dull skin colour and this is why Eucerin developed their Elasticity + Filler range for mature skin, even sensitive ones. Inspired by dermatological filler injections, its a highly innovative combination of anti-ageing ingredients such as Arctiin (accelerates collagen renewal), Silymarin (protects agains oxidative stress & activates microcirculation), Hylauronic Acid (plumps deep wrinkles) and Argan Oil (regulates skin function, anti-inflammatory properties).

There are three products in the range: Day Care, Night Care and Eucerin’s® very first Facial Oil. The cream retail for R349 for 50ml ea and the oil for R399 for 30ml. Available from Clicks, Dis-Chem and selected pharmacies nationwide from October 2016.
